Our briefings, check-lists, weekly or daily meetings (in function of your project), more than to ensure the best end-results on the works, will also provide you an exclusive and smooth customer experience.
Your yacht is unique and exclusive, and so it deserves to be maintained by the same rules. All our employees work by our three rules:
a commitment to perform to our best abilities, to work within the budget and to deliver in time.
The contribution of a shipyard project manager and the client ship is crucial to ensure the satisfactory completion of works in a timely manner to respect schedules. This was achieved very well and much appreciated by all. Also of note, was the friendly and co-operative way
A Team of 25 project managers operates permanently for Monaco Marine clients. Their objective is to ensure the good end-result of your refit project. With more than 30 years of experience for some of them and issue of the best Naval or Engineers schools, they combine technical know-how and Expertise knowledge. Our project managers have a combination of skills including an ability to ask penetrating questions, detect unstated assumptions and resolve conflicts, as well as more general management skills. They control risk and minimise uncertainty. Every decision they make must directly benefit your project.
Following our more than 20 years of experience, we have created a regular maintenance check list that ensures a total check-up of your yacht. Designed by the aeronautical sector, the check list is a very valuable tool. It will help you to determine the next steps regarding the maintenance of your yachts for future years. First of all, it gives us a complete technical x-ray of the yacht. We are able to give you a full report distinguishing regular, predictive or exceptional maintenance issues. Secondly, it will also allow you to forecast the maintenance plan within the life cycle of the yacht. Naturally, our project management team will advise you and be at your disposal to answer any questions you may have.
Your project manager can organize the regular maintenance and service following the manufacturer’s schedule and according to the serial number of the engines. We work throughout the year with all naval engine manufacturers or with their representatives and technicians. We provide them with the logistic support and the perfect environment for them to perform their best work on your superyacht.
My entire experience at Monaco Marine has been a good one, from the day we arrived to the end of our extensive refit and surveys. Their professionnal attitude, level of knowledge and experience, and willingness to do a good job makes it easy for me to see Monaco Marine as our home shipyard.
A superyacht sails in a challenging environment: the sea. With Mother Nature in the driving seat, seas and oceans make life hard for your yacht. This is why at Monaco Marine, we advise all our clients to get at least a two and half year technical check-up that includes a complete inspection of the superyacht. Following the model of the compulsory 5 years survey to obtain class, it minimises all the works that will have to be done on this occasion and it makes it easier to gain class registration.
The survey is a complete check-up of all the vital organs of the yacht, such as for example, the transmission and propulsion. Every spare part, like the rudder blade, shaft lines and propellers are dismantled and taken into our workshops. There they undergo an inspection to identify any weak spots. An initial visual inspection takes place before the technical tests are carried out by a certified operator to check if the equipment requires any serious repair or needs to be replaced. Every component of the yacht is checked during this survey, including for example, vanes (which have to be replaced after inspection), the state of the hull (the measure of thickness), corroded areas or points, the anchor and electric systems etc... The deck also undergoes the same level of inspection. The report is then handed to a class registration for checking. Following this, a decision is made whether further investigation or replacement of spare parts is required to satisfy the register and gain the class certification.
I can confirm that your team was of great value to the seller and the new owner of Ulysses! You have achieved indeed a very big job in a perfect manner and timeframe! I can (and will) recommend Monaco Marine to my future clients. thanks again to the whole team
A Superyacht paint is one of the most specific and precise work for a yacht. It requires the highest quality standards available on the market. At Monaco Marine, it is a team work for many reasons: the preparation of the yacht will determine the good quality of the process, the optimal work environment will contribute to the quality of the end-result and the mastering of the painter skills allow us to design and implement the top of the top available in the world. To succeed, the Monaco Marine paint team is backed by smart logistics planners and technicians and state of the art tools and facilities. We select the most recognised paint specialists. They deliver the highest quality, work seamlessly with our project managers and share our customer care philosophy
For paintwork the finish line is quality, delivered on time and on budget. For that, our project managers have a deep technical understanding of paint coating systems and acceptance criteria. They also make sure the prerequisites are clearly defined: contract, quality criteria, scope of work, technical specifications, process and planning schedule. Our clients are heavily involved in the active preparation phase and can be assist by a leading paint surveyor upon request. Once on the track our project management team constantly check the parameters that generate quality such as: cleanliness, protection, configuration of the air treatment system and tracking of loose parts. We have developed methods to move certain tasks out of the critical path so they can be performed as a background tasks, resulting in a 12% gain on the overall project schedule. In reality, thanks to our paint project management, we guarantee you the best end-results.
On the refit of Lady Christine, we were in the paint shed with a controlled environment and got an absolutely fantastic finish.
When the mercury reaches higher than 35 degrees in summer, as it often does here in the Mediterranean, it is normally impossible to paint a superyacht. Fortunately, Monaco Marine La Ciotat’s climate-controlled paint shed can accommodate painting in such conditions and full paint work on Feadship’s 68m M/Y Lady Christine is testament to this.
The shed’s double-skin insulation, which controls temperature and humidity, ensured optimal conditions were maintained throughout the project. The shed provides the best protection from wind and rain, making it an ideal facility for painting in the middle of summer. Additional advantages of the custom paint shed include a large gantry crane already in place, space for storage and the ability to cordon off entire sections for disassembling and painting parts. Depending on the size of a yacht, it is possible to build a tented shed for contractors.
Painting work on Feadship’s 81m M/Y Air presented Monaco Marine La Ciotat with a unique challenge given the yacht’s unique black matte hull, especially when spraying approximately 1,000sqm in one application.
Given its delicate nature, black matte paint requires careful preparation, including the coatings as well as a continuous application to render the rare non-reflective and soft-textured appearance. Thanks to thorough planning and clear communication between the Captain and crew, project managers and the painters, the project was delivered one full week ahead of schedule. These time savings were in part attributable to the made-to-measure pre-erected tent and a team of 25 painters spraying in one application. The result is a eye-catchingly beautiful and sophisticated yacht finish.
on behalf of myself and my crew, I would like to say thank you very much to you and your team at Monaco Marine. Located in the Calanques National Park you will probably nd that a re t period is almost not enough time to explore this mineral and vegetation rich natural asset. Indeed this part of the coast is a worldwide spot. The magic runs from Marseille from where you truly get the measure of the huge rocks rising up from the turquoise waters to La Ciotat where you can wrap up the day at the charming Petit Mugel creek. On your arrival, you can’t fail to be captivated by the soaring cliffs at Cap Canaille.
Marseille is a city full of art and culture and has many wonders to share with you. With its 26 centuries of history, it combines tradition and modernity. It takes the visitor on a journey that begins with its Greek and Roman origins and leads us through the centuries and right up to modern times and the great architectural achievements of the 21st Century.
The city has a wealth of monuments, places of interest and museums to visit. Marseille’s heart is the vibrant Vieux Port (old port), mast-to-mast with yachts and pleasure boats. Just uphill is the ancient Le Panier neighbourhood, the oldest section of the city. Also worth exploring is the République quarter, with its stylish boutiques and Haussmann buildings, and the Joliette area, centred on Marseille’s totemic Cathédrale de Marseille Notre Dame de Major.
La Ciotat enjoys an enviable position with great coastal scenery nearby to the west including the Marseille calanques, easy access to beaches along the coast to the east, and the town itself has a shing port and an attractive harbour full of pleasure boats. La Ciotat also has two ‘claims to fame’: the rst as the town where petanque was invented (a Provencal version of boules, that you will see played in every town in the region), and the second as the place where the rst moving lm was made - a short lm of a train arriving in La Ciotat train station in 1895 (the cinema can still be seen in the town.)
The coast to the east of the port is called the Gulf d’Amour and is where you will nd most of the sandy beaches around La Ciotat. From the old port in La Ciotat you can take a boat trip to Ile Verte, a small island covered in trees which is a popular place for a picnic.
If you love the sea, the forests or visits in Provençal villages, La Seyne-sur-Mer is a good destination. Indeed, if you are aquatic, you can enjoy the beach of “Les Sablettes” and dive in crystalline waters. If you prefer having a walk and seeing the sea from the mountains, the Corniche Merveilleuse road will take you to some hills where you can admire an amazing view of the coasts. If you want to know more about Provençal culture, you can also visit the villages and discover the history. The region is rich, enjoy it !.
A refit period can sometimes exceed three months while your Superyacht and your crew stay in our shipyard. With the complexity of a refit project, we consider at Monaco Marine that one of the conditions of its success is also to have a crew in a good mood. That’s why Monaco Marine think about them and offers some facilities, like at home... Indeed, our shipyards have Crew Areas, to relax with a book in a nice cosy place or to enjoy some activities. These private areas are fully equipped with a pool, a football table, a tennis table, a TV and the WI-FI for those who are far from their family. For the most courageous, some shipyards can offer a fitness room, with a sea view. Also, the areas offer sofas and kitchen if crew want to organize their own event.
Also, we provide an on-site concierge dedicated to assisting Captain and crew with anything they may need. It goes from transportation, hotel reservations, attractions, to very specific demands. If they are looking for a medical need, our team assists them in privacy. If they are looking for a wonderful and romantic restaurant with a beautiful sight on the sun going down, we advise them and book it. If they need a break after the season, we propose them safe and exceptional nightlife spots.
The French Riviera is the place to be with its multifaceted. The sun is shining 300 days a year, the cities of the coast have an important history and culture, there are many beaches where crew just have to put some sun cream and absorb the sun rays, if they prefer the fresh air and hiking they can enjoy the mountains, the Mediterranean food will awaken the taste buds and many different activities and sports are waiting for them, on the sea or on land. The French Riviera is a huge open-air playground which can be explored all along the year. It’s in this warm landscape and atmosphere that Monaco Marine organize some special great private events for Captains and crew inside or outside the shipyard.
