Monaco Marine’s Best Shipyards for Crew

In the demanding world of superyacht maintenance and refit, the well-being of the crew while the work is being carried out is essential.

Some of the refits onboard yachts and superyachts can take several weeks, sometimes months. Owners always want to make sure that part of the crew can be nearby to take advantage of this time for them to work on other parts of the yachts and collaborate with the shipyard so the refit goes smoothly.

Long ago, Monaco Marine quickly understood that the crew and the captains needed dedicated care and facilities. Each of their crew spaces is equipped with a kitchen, so they can prepare and take their meals on site. To help them unwind, they are also equipped with TV, video games, billiards, table football, darts, and board games. As explained in more detail below, some of them propose additional commodities.

Monaco Marine stands out not only for its technical excellence but also for its ongoing commitment to providing exceptional facilities and services for crew members. With strategically located shipyards along the French Riviera, Monaco Marine ensures that every crew member feels valued and supported throughout the refit process.

La Ciotat shipyard

The largest facility boasts 45,000 sqm accommodating yachts up to 160 meters. This enables Monaco Marine to work on large unit and propose its expertise in its state-of-the-art workshops including electrical, mechanical, metalwork and joinery.

A 90-meter-long climate-controlled paint shed completes the modern equipment.

La Ciotat is the perfect setting for superyachts, and the dedicated crew area matches the needs for larger vessels. It features offices for a crew to meet and work on the project, a storage area, convenient to empty any part of the yacht that needs to be cleared while the teams work on their refit. There’s also a fitness space so crew members can stay in shape while the yacht is undergoing its refit, and a terrace to unwind, making La Ciotat the best refit yard for crew.

La Seyne-Sur-Mer shipyard

Monaco Marine’s La Seyne Sur Mer shipyard spans on 40,000 sqm, catering to yachts between 35 and 55 meters and up to 80 meters afloat. It features specialised workshops for electrical, mechanical, and metalwork tasks and its climate-controlled paint shed is 60 meter long.

In La Seyne-sur-Mer, the crew will enjoy a 260 sqm comfortable dedicated area with offices and storage spaces for them to use. It’s completed with a gym room for the crew and captains to enjoy.

Antibes shipyard

One of the most popular yards, thanks to its location in the heart of yachting hub Antibes, on the French Riviera, covers 17,000 sqm and can accommodate superyachts up to 40 meters. Amongst other equipment, it features a new joinery workshop, modern cranes, and a new 11-meter dry dock to expand capacity.

The enhanced crew facilities include offices to facilitate the monitoring of the project with the parties involved and other crew areas.

These assets and their location make it one of the best marinas for crews to be in during a yacht refit.

Marseille shipyard

Marseille shipyard is conveniently located at only 22 km of the International Airport. It spreads over 8,700 sqm with a 360-meter dock with a significant draft suitable for works afloat.

The teams deliver regular maintenance and refits thanks to their installations such as competitive workshops and a climate-controlled storage facility.

The shipyard also hosts a dedicated crew area where crew members can unwind and follow the work in progress on the yacht.

Beaulieu-sur-Mer shipyard

Ideally located between Nice and Monaco, the Beaulieu-sur-Mer shipyard extends over 7,700 sqm. The shipyard boasts an enhanced workshop for mechanical, metalwork, and joinery tasks. A recent 300-ton eco-friendly floating dock can also accommodate yachts up to 44 meters.

The facility features a renewed crew area and dedicated project management office to help in monitoring the stage of the work.

Beyond the yard, Monaco Marine’s engagement with the crew

Monaco Marine's dedication to crew welfare extends beyond its facilities, the company strives to make sure it offers the best refit yards for crew to be in and create a comfortable environment.

Its staff assist crew members with local accommodations, but also help them with medical appointments and emergency matters. Last but not least, the Monaco Marine teams plan lifestyle activities throughout the year.

They organise a variety of events to nurture camaraderie and provide relaxation opportunities for captains and crew members. Some of them are weekly, such as paintball games, football tournaments, pottery workshops, pilates, yoga, wine tasting, barbecue, padel, go-karting and much more.

Others are more seasonal. These include ski day trips, golf tournaments as well as a Master Chef event which takes place in two rounds in May in Monaco.

Captains are also treated to exclusive experiences such as weekend skiing retreats and special invitations during the Monaco Grand Prix.

These initiatives highlight Monaco Marine's exhaustive approach to crew satisfaction, making it a preferred choice for yacht refits.
